Violent Extremism and Media

There is a lot of global and national focus at present on what is often called "violent extremism. Within this focus there is very critical attention on the role of the media. In her report - Countering violent extremism through media and communication strategies (summary at that link with access to the full paper), Kate Ferguson from the University of East Anglia, presents an analysis of the academic and grey literature relevant to the question: How can media and communications be used to counter identity-based violence (IBV) or violent extremism (VE)? The analysis and recommendations are focused on the importance of "counter-narratives". We would very much welcome your review and comment on this vital report reviewing the literature and proposing a way forward on a very topical and important issue.
